Bodhi
SS 2023
Bodhi is an octagonal bag with two functions of holding: by the shoulder strap and handle. Its shape was inspired by Phra Maha Chedi Si Rajakarn, a group of four stupas in Wat Pho, that contains a distinguished architectural style known as twelve indented corners (in Thai: yo mum mai sip song).
The primary material is Thai silk handwoven by members of The SUPPORT Foundation, and handles were hand-crocheted with natural-dyed hemp fibre in the form of a Thai floral garland. The dominant feature is hand-folded components that create geometric shape and texture that are significant and sophisticated.
Bodhi was first displayed along with Bangle Bangkok at the Department of Jewellery Design’s annual exhibition at Art & Design Gallery, Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University in October 2023
